Protect Against Never-Seen-Before Attacks
There are lots of ransomware and other malware variants in the cyber-realm. So many, that Traditional Anti-Virus (AV) and Endpoint Detection Response (EDR/XDR) systems only deal with seen-before and well-known variants. However these legacy systems are no longer enough to combat the increasing sophistication and volume of attacks. The changes in the cyber landscape mean the risk of a breach in security has increased significantly and a new approach is required to quickly plug the gap before it is too late. Using security software tools and having secure backups for data is essential. But, the critical factor in preventing a malware or ransomware infection is stopping it before it gets installed on a device.
What is malware?
Malware, or “malicious software,” is an umbrella term that describes any malicious program or code that is harmful to systems. Hostile, intrusive, and intentionally nasty, malware seeks to invade, damage, or disable computers, computer systems, networks, tablets, and mobile devices, often by taking partial control over a device’s operations. Like the human flu, it interferes with normal functioning.
What is ransomware?
Ransomware is a type of malware, malicious software, that blocks access to the victim’s data and threatens to keep it unavailable or even delete it unless the victim pays a ransom to the attacker. This is a very common type of attack so it’s highly important to take every precaution feasibly possible against them. Defences against ransomware include; adequate training for all staff, including scenario training; technological defences such as anti- malware, email protections and even AI; ensuring backups are maintained and immutable; updating software regularly to ensure patches for Zero Day vulnerabilities are in place and implement robust access control policies
